Que restera-t-il de notre civilisation\u00a0? Que pr\u00e9server et sur quels crit\u00e8res\u00a0? Ce sont l\u00e0 quelques questions soulev\u00e9es par les artistes contemporains qui n\u2019ont jamais autant investi ce rapport \u00e0 l\u2019histoire et \u00e0 sa falsification. Alors m\u00eame que les premiers \u00e9v\u00e8nements culturels enti\u00e8rement constitu\u00e9s de fausses \u0153uvres d\u2019art (exposition \u00ab Toutankhamon, ses tr\u00e9sors, son tombeau \u00bb) voient le jour, quelle consid\u00e9ration a-t-on d\u00e9sormais pour le mus\u00e9e qui fut tout au long du 19<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> et du 20<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, un sanctuaire de l\u2019authenticit\u00e9\u00a0? En bon indicateur, le march\u00e9 valorise aujourd\u2019hui les \u0153uvres contemporaines rutilantes sortant des ateliers en grand nombre aux d\u00e9pens de pi\u00e8ces vieilles de plusieurs milliers d\u2019ann\u00e9es, t\u00e9moins majeurs de la civilisation. Exploitant ce paradoxe, l\u2019exposition m\u00eale dans une m\u00eame sc\u00e9nographie des \u0153uvres authentiques \u00e0 des pi\u00e8ces factices. Elle est, \u00e0 ce titre, une v\u00e9ritable h\u00e9r\u00e9sie pour les conservateurs. Ces derniers pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent en effet concevoir des expositions enti\u00e8rement \u00e9labor\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de r\u00e9pliques plut\u00f4t que de combiner les deux, au risque de cr\u00e9er davantage de confusions\u00a0; \u00e0 force d&#8217;\u00eatre faux, les r\u00e9pliques deviennent vraies au contact d\u2019\u0153uvres originales.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019exposition \u00ab\u00a0L\u2019arch\u00e9ologie, un mythe contemporain\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0pose la question de notre angoisse face \u00e0 l\u2019effacement, \u00e0 la perte de rep\u00e8res historiques, \u00e0 la m\u00e9connaissance de l\u2019histoire des civilisations. Dans une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 domin\u00e9e par une actualit\u00e9 foisonnante qui oblit\u00e8re un \u00e0 un les \u00e9v\u00e8nements, et concourt chaque jour un peu plus \u00e0 une forme d\u2019amn\u00e9sie collective, les artistes s\u2019emploient \u00e0 donner \u00e0 leur \u0153uvre l\u2019\u00e9paisseur du pass\u00e9 en jouant sur l\u2019ambigu\u00eft\u00e9 du faux\/authentique. Pour cela, ils empruntent aux arch\u00e9ologues les approches et techniques de fouilles afin d\u2019offrir une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 fragment\u00e9e, porteuse de tous les fantasmes.<\/p>\n<p>Sur le mod\u00e8le d\u2019Anne et Patrick Poirier, les artistes r\u00e9veillent des formes inspir\u00e9es des vieilles cit\u00e9s antiques ou s\u2019emploient \u00e0 donner \u00e0 leur \u0153uvre l\u2019\u00e9paisseur du pass\u00e9. Pour beaucoup, l\u2019acculturation et l\u2019approximation cognitive servent de moteurs \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation.<\/p>\n<p>Selon L\u00e9vi-Strauss, les civilisations premi\u00e8res ont beaucoup plus de facilit\u00e9s \u00e0 imaginer le monde qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019analyser. Les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s modernes ont le probl\u00e8me inverse. L\u2019approche anthropologique traduit cette difficult\u00e9. Ce sont autant d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments collect\u00e9s, orphelins du temps pr\u00e9sent. Les \u0153uvres de l\u2019exposition s\u2019apparentent \u00e0 des choses mortes, dont le sens \u00e9chapperait \u00e0 ses contemporains, m\u00eame si elles semblent pr\u00eates \u00e0 jouer \u00e0 un
